Young people across Truro will have access to a variety of free activities and support sessions this August. Truro City Council is pleased to be working alongside local providers to help support these opportunities and ensure young people and their families are aware of the activities available across the city.
Some activities are organised by Truro City Council and Truro Community Library, while others are being arranged by Zebs – Young People Cornwall, Salt Projects Cornwall Ltd, Newquay Boxing Academy and Cornwall Dance School, in partnership with Truro City Council’s Community Development Department. The shared aim is to provide safe and engaging opportunities for young people of various ages over the summer holidays.

Come along to the Bandstand at Victoria Gardens (except Tuesday sessions, which will be held at Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery on River Street) for a fun selection of weekday activities.

Collect a free activity pack from either Truro Community Library or the Truro Visitor Information Centre on Boscawen Street. Inside, you’ll find a trail map to guide you around the city. At each location, look for a wooden hedgehog displaying a letter. Find them all to reveal the hidden phrase. Once you’ve completed the trail, return your entry form to the Library or Visitor Information Centre to receive an “I Love Denzel” sticker and be entered into the prize draw.

Truro Community Library and libraries across Cornwall have launched the Cornwall Summer Reading Challenge 2026: Extraordinary Explorers, inviting children of all ages to discover new books and explore the subjects they love.
Two challenges are available:
• Reading Quest – For children who are able to enjoy six books over the summer.
• One and All Challenge – A fully inclusive option designed to ensure every child can take part and succeed, whatever their reading ability or additional needs.

Truro City Council’s Football Sessions aim to bring young people aged 5 – 15 together through sport. Working with its partners Young People Cornwall, CHAOS, Healthy Cornwall and Supasport Southwest, the days are full of fun, but it’s more than football; it’s about an underlying message for young people to treat each other with kindness, respect and support each other.

These free outdoor sessions will bring boxing and street dance workshops directly into Truro’s parks and outdoor spaces.
