A big thank you to everyone who came along to yesterday’s Information Day for the Boscawen Park Sports Hub project, which was held at the Truro Loops office. Over 40 people attended the drop in session on Wednesday 30th July 2025.

The Town Deal funded project comprises four key elements: the construction of the new Sports Hub building; improvements to the grass surfaces of the existing sports pitches to enable them to be used for longer periods of the year, the resurfacing of the riverside walk, and dredging the duck pond.

The first phase will focus on the improvements to the sports pitches, which will be closed to all users while the drainage and pitch improvement works are carried out. Following completion of these works at the end of September, the area will remain closed to the public to enable the new grass surface to be established. Competitive sports are expected to resume on the playing surfaces in April 2026.

Contractors Inscapes began erecting fencing around the site of the sports pitches on 30 July, with the main works starting next week.

Work on constructing the new Sports Hub building, currently due to begin on 4 August, will be carried out by Fox Construction Services.

It was great to have the opportunity to talk to local residents and businesses about the project. The project team were able to explain how the temporary closure of the sports pitches will be managed, and outline the current plans for the use of the new building.

While the sports pitches will be closed during the works, the children’s play area, formal gardens, tennis courts, and café will remain open to the public throughout the construction period. The existing boules / pétanque pitch will also remain open for the majority of the building work.

Updates on the works will be provided on the City Council’s website and social media channels as the project progresses – @Truro City Council on Facebook and truro.gov.uk
