Our Great Little Kids Club will return to Truro for 2025, featuring an exciting programme of activities organised by Truro City Council in partnership with Visit Truro, Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, and Hall for Cornwall.

The programme will run between Monday 28th July and Friday 29th August, and will host a variety of activities every weekday afternoon between 2pm – 3pm in the Bandstand at Victoria Gardens (NB: On Tuesdays, sessions will be held at the Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery on River Street).

New for 2025, Visit Truro will be running a competition in the lead up to Our Great Little Kids Club to win a selection of prizes that have kindly been donated by local businesses. Follow Visit Truro on Facebook and Instagram for further updates and information.

Mayor of Truro, Councillor Chris Wells, said, “I am delighted that Truro City Council has been able to bring Our Great Little Kids Club back to Truro once again, with an extra competition this year working with local businesses to provide a lineup of great prizes. The activities have been developed with support from all our departments, as well as our partners, and I would like to thank everyone involved.”

The weekly programme is as follows:

  • Monday – Jules The Ventriloquist will bring her friends for build a puppet activities, interactive magic, and many new surprises.
  • Tuesday – Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery will host themed sessions on their summer exhibition, I Grew Up 80s! Please note that this session will be held in the Learning Room at the museum.
  • Wednesday – Story time & crafts with Truro Community Library.
  • Thursday – Hall for Cornwall, Join in with Aladdin-themed dancing, exciting games, well-loved children’s stories, and delightful crafting activities.
  • Friday – Truro’s Countryside Rangers will help you discover the wildlife in Truro’s Wild Spaces.

All sessions are free and are designed for primary school aged children.

Kate Clayton, Learning Manager at Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, said, “The summer activities we have planned here at the museum are all based around our colourful and fun 80s exhibition, I Grew Up 80s! It’s time to introduce Gen Alpha to the cassette tape, the shell suit, Marty McFly and Now That’s What I Call Music! With our recently opened new galleries, the sensory-rich Discovery Trail, and plenty of interactive things to see and do in the museum, it really is the place to be this summer – come rain or shine!”

This summer, free activity packs will also be available, featuring the popular Denzel the Hedgehog Town Trail, along with colouring activities, word searches, and more!

Denzel is a well known hedgehog from Trafalgar Roundabout, who has made his way through the city to hide in the displays of several city centre shops as well as several of Truro’s attractions.

Children are invited to search for the hedgehogs as they search the city. Each hedgehog will have a letter that will spell a phrase once completed. Children can return to Truro Community Library or the Visitor Information Centre on Boscawen Street to enter a prize draw.

Abi Steel, Visit Truro Manager, said, “We’re thrilled to be working with Truro City Council’s Event Officer to bring Denzel’s free city trail back to Truro this summer. The trail will help to encourage local families & visitors to Truro’s city centre, creating a wonderful children’s adventure while boosting trade for our local businesses during the crucial summer period.”

Free stickers will also be available for children to collect after completing each activity throughout the programme, as well as the “I Love Denzel” sticker on completion of the trail.

The activity packs will also contain information about summer events taking place at Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, Truro Cathedral, Truro Community Library, and other venues. These packs can be collected at Truro Community Library and Truro Visitor Information Centre.
