Truro City Council’s Parks Department is acutely aware of the current drought and resultant hosepipe ban, together with the current requests from South West Water to use water wisely.
We are aware that some members of the public may be understandably concerned about the watering of floral displays and other parks in and around the city during a drought. At the current time, we are reducing watering significantly and are using water sourced from our own borehole.
Truro City Council has also invested in a rainwater harvesting system at the Idless Nursery site, and this has been extended following the last hosepipe ban to a 40,000-litre capacity. Now that we have had some rain earlier last week, this source of water will be used first to water our displays.
