Truro City Council is pleased to announce the return of its annual New Year’s Eve celebrations on Wednesday 31st December 2025. The city will once again light up the skies with two spectacular fireworks displays, inviting residents and visitors to come together on Lemon Quay to welcome the New Year.
The evening will begin with a Family Fireworks Display at 7:30pm, followed by the traditional Midnight Display as the clock strikes twelve on 31st December. Both events are free to attend and best watched from Lemon Quay.
The Mayor of Truro, Councillor Chris Wells, said: “I am delighted that it has been possible to fund the two fireworks displays once again and I hope that residents and visitors alike enjoy the spectacular end of year display in the early evening, as well as welcoming in 2026 with the New Year’s display. I thank all those who have contributed in any way to ensure these are memorable events.”
Thanks to generous support from the local community, the £3 voucher scheme will also return for 2025. The scheme offers free £3 vouchers to children under 16 attending the 7:30pm Family Display, which can be used towards the cost of food, drink, sweets, or a carousel ride from Raymond’s stall, who have kindly offered to remain open on Lemon Quay during the event.
Vouchers will be available to collect from 6:30pm at the Lemon Street end of Lemon Quay (opposite the Hall for Cornwall). Please note that vouchers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and are only valid for use during the Family Display on 31st December.
A big thank you to Paul Caruana for once again organising the voucher scheme and leading the excellent fundraising effort. Thanks, must also go to the businesses and individuals who have been very generous in their donations again this year. Paul will also be working with a team of volunteers for a New Year’s Day clean up on the grounds of Truro School.
Truro City Council also extends its thanks to Truro School for kindly allowing the use of its grounds once again as the launch site for the fireworks.
For 2025, Truro City Council has selected Celebration Pyrotechnics to deliver both fireworks displays on New Year’s Eve. The company, run by Tom Bricknell, an ex-student of Truro School, is known for some of Cornwall and Devon’s most notable displays, including a complex display on St Michael’s Mount for the St Aubyn Estate and National Trust, drive-in displays at the Royal Cornwall Showground, the Westpoint Arena Devon and Cheltenham Racecourse, and Falmouth Week 2025.
Both the Family Display and Midnight Display are funded by the Truro City Council events programme, which aims to deliver a range of free events throughout the year for the benefit of residents and as part of activity designed to encourage visitors to come to Truro throughout the year.
