Last weekend, Truro had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from Boppard, Germany (one of the towns Truro is twinned with), for a Cultural Exchange Programme held from Friday 29th August to Monday 1st September.
The visit began on Friday with a warm welcome from the Mayor of Truro, Councillor Chris Wells, who greeted the German guests and local members of the Truro-Boppard Twinning Association at a welcome reception held at the Mayor’s Parlour in the Truro City Council offices. The group then visited Truro City Council’s Fozzards Field Nursery at Idless for a tour from the Parks Department, followed by an afternoon tea just outside the city.
The weekend also saw a visit to Falmouth and watching cricket at Truro Cricket Club. On Sunday, the group headed to Café in the Park, before challenging the Morlaix Twinning Association to a friendly game of boules. Afterwards, there was a chance to experience local flavours at The Tapyard at Skinners Brewery.
The final day started with a trip to the Cornwall Museum & Art Gallery, followed by a guided tour of Cornwall Council by Councillor Rob Nolan, Chairman of Cornwall Council and Truro City Councillor. The programme concluded with a farewell meal at Truro Golf Club – a great end to a weekend of friendship, culture, and community.
