It is with great sadness that Truro City Council has learned of the passing of former Mayor, Doris Ansari.
Doris was first elected to Truro City Council in 1971 and served as Mayor from 1978 to 1979. She was also a highly respected figure within the former Carrick District Council and Cornwall Council, dedicating over 40 years to public service across the county.
The Mayor of Truro, Councillor Chris Wells, said: “I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of a former Mayor who gave so much of her time in service to the people of Truro and to communities across Cornwall through her many roles. On behalf of the Members and staff of Truro City Council, I have extended our heartfelt condolences to Doris Ansari’s family. They are very much in our thoughts and prayers.
I have also requested that the City of Truro flag be flown at half-mast on the day of her funeral as a mark of respect.”
