Carol Swain moved from Manchester to Truro in 2003, after ill-health caused an early end to her career in NHS Finance. Thankfully now fully recovered, for seven years she was Treasurer of the Beechwood Parc Community Association and is an active member of the Liberal Democrats. She was co-opted on to the City Council in 2018 to represent the Tregolls ward where she lives, and was elected for the same ward in 2021. She is a passionate campaigner for all those individuals and groups who are at risk of being left behind by society. Councillor Swain served as Mayor of Truro from 2023 to 2025.
