Truro Remembers

Truro City Council has been working alongside the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion to organise and assist with events that will take place to mark Remembrance this November.

On Armistice Day, Friday 11th November, we will observe a two-minute silence at the War Memorial in Boscawen Street at 11am. The silence will be led by the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion.

This Act of Remembrance will also be repeated at the War Memorial at 11.00 on Remembrance Sunday, Sunday 13th November.

Further events will also take place on Remembrance Sunday. There will be a Wreath Laying Ceremony at the War Memorial in Boscawen Street at 2.30pm, followed by a military parade, pausing for the salute with His Majesty the King’s Lord-Lieutenant for Cornwall Col E T Bolitho OBE on Boscawen Street.

The military parade will make its way to High Cross for the formation of the Guard of Honour, before being joined by the Civic procession.

This will be followed by the Service of Remembrance at 3.15pm at Truro Cathedral.

The Mayor of Truro, Cllr Steven Webb, will welcome dignitaries and military personnel to Truro on the day. He said: “Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity for us to remember the fallen and honour their bravery and sacrifice.

“I feel very privileged to be able to represent Truro City Council on this important day and hope to see many of you there.”

Barry Cooper, Chair of the Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion, added: “The Truro Branch of the Royal British Legion has been actively working with Truro City Council to deliver these events.”
