Truro City Council launches Our Great Little Kids Club campaign

Tuesday 19th July, 2022

Truro City Council is excited to introduce Our Great Little Kids Club campaign for summer 2022.

Mayor of Truro, Cllr Steven Webb, said: “We are thrilled to announce an exciting programme of events for the children of Truro this summer in the Bandstand in Victoria Gardens.

“I’m very proud that all the city council departments have worked together, alongside Truro Cathedral and Royal Cornwall Museum, to deliver Our Great Little Kids Club.

“With the current cost of living crisis, we hope this goes some way to alleviate some pressures that families are facing.”

The campaign will begin with the launch of a free activity pack, which will be available to collect from Truro Community Library and the Truro Visitor Information Centre from Monday 25th July.

The pack features activities such as colouring, a word search, and spot the difference, as well as the Denzel Hedgehog Trail.

Denzel is one of our famous hedgehogs from Trafalgar Roundabout, and he will be making his way into the city to hide in the displays of several city centre shops and some of our well known landmarks.

Each hedgehog will correspond to a letter, which when complete will spell a phrase. Children can then return to Truro Community Library or the Visitor Information Centre to enter into the prize draw.

We hope to encourage children and families to explore our city.

The pack will also include information on Our Great Little Kids Club: a series of free events taking place throughout August.

From Monday 1st August – Wednesday 31st August, children can enjoy various activities every weekday between 14.00 and 15.00.

This year, sessions will be held in the Victoria Gardens Bandstand instead of Hendra Play Area.

Activities include storytelling, outdoor treasure hunts, arts and crafts, ventriloquist acts, and an outdoor museum experience.

These events will run on a first-come first-serve basis.

The pack also features events that are taking place at the city’s main attractions: Royal Cornwall Museum and Truro Cathedral.

Furthermore, we have included a top ten things to do for families in Truro, including the Summer Reading Challenge at Truro Community Library.

Please be aware that activities in Victoria Gardens may be cancelled in the event of bad weather. Please check our social media pages @trurocitycouncil / @visittruro, call the Visitor Information Centre on 01872 274555, or pop in-store on Boscawen Street for further updates.

You can find more information on all events inside the activity pack or on the Visit Truro website: visittruro.org.uk
