Launch of new Visit and Your Truro websites

Over the past year, Truro City Council’s destination marketing service, Visit Truro, has been working with MiHi Digital on the redevelopment of the Visit Truro website (www.visittruro.org.uk).

The new destination site, which is now live, has more functionality to highlight the range of wonderful events, offers, accommodation options, shops, and hospitality venues in Our Great Little City.

Malcolm Bell MBE, Chair of Visit Cornwall, said: “In this digital world, you constantly have to improve your presence and your functionality to meet the ever growing and diverse needs of regular customers, returning visitors, and new visitors if you are going to maximise the benefits from the visitor economy to support the high street, independent retailers, and the cultural and heritage sector.”

We are also delighted to announce the launch of a new community website, Your Truro (www.yourtruro.org.uk), which sits alongside the visitor site.

Based upon feedback and working with partners, we identified the need for a platform to promote and share details of all the amazing groups and events that take place in Truro.

Your Truro is a hub of local information, with details on upcoming and recurring events, local clubs and societies, support groups, travel information, and much more.

Suzie West, Cornwall Programme Manager at Creative UK, commented: “This site gives value and visibility to all the brilliant projects, clubs and community programmes on Truro’s doorstep. I’m really pleased that there is a central place to find information and to list other activities people are offering. I can only see it growing as a vital resource for culture in Truro.”

Mark Worden, Managing Director of MiHi Digital, added: “Truro has so much to offer those visiting Cornwall and also living in the surrounding communities. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with people that are so passionate about this great little city, and we look forward to spreading the word about events, groups and everything that is going on in the coming months.”

The websites also have the ability for event organisers to upload their own events and activities for listing. A digital form sits on the Visit Truro site, where you can submit details of any event that you would like uploading to either site: https://www.visittruro.org.uk/submit-an-event

In addition to the above, we will also be launching a ticket office as a feature of both sites. This is aimed at small community events that require paid for tickets or free registration.

The ticket office will launch in Spring, with more details to follow.
We hope that these websites and the ticket office will become valuable assets to businesses, residents and visitors to Truro. If you have any questions, or if you would like to discuss any promotional opportunities, please email visittruro@truro.gov.uk
