Truro Mayor pays tribute to everyone involved in city’s Coronation service and parade

The Mayor of Truro Steven Webb has paid tribute to everyone who helped to organise the Coronation Civic Service and Parade in Truro on Sunday and has thanked members of the public for supporting the historic event.

 

Held to celebrate the Coronation of their Majesties King Charles III & Queen Camilla , the parade from Lemon Quay to the Cathedral , where the civic service was held, was led by the Kernow Pipes and Drums.

 

The parade was hosted by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall Col Edward Bolitho, who was joined at the front by the Rt Rev Philip Mounstephen, Bishop of Truro, Interim Dean Simon Robinson, and the Mayor of Truro, together with representatives of the Royal British Legion Cornwall and Truro branches .

 

Other taking part in the event included veterans, scouts, standard bearers and members of the Old Cornwall Societies. 

 

“It was a truly amazing gathering “ said Steven Webb.  “A very big thank you to the Lieutenancy Office, Cornwall Council and Visit Truro, and, of course, to staff from Truro City Council who all worked together to ensure that everything ran smoothly”.

 

“It was fantastic to see so many dignitaries and representations of local organisations and groups involved. It was a privilege to be part of such an incredible experience, particularly as this was my final civic event as Mayor of our great city”.
