Job Vacancy – Café Food Prep Assistant

Truro City Council is looking to expand the café in the park team. Our café is open 7 days per week and is based in Boscawen Park. It is a 35-seat café that opened in the summer.

We are excited to expand our team to be able to respond to our peak times. We are seeking individuals who are friendly, enthusiastic and have a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in a hospitality setting is desired but not essential as we can provide the training you need. What is important, is the ability to provide brilliant customer service and people skills to support our customers to enjoy their visit.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Preparation of sandwiches and basic food items
  • Baking of brownies and cakes (following recipes)
  • Availability to work morning shifts – approx. 3 per week
  • Flexible to help with other café jobs such as morning set up as and when needed
  • A passion for baking food
  • Opportunity to bring some creative ideas
  • Proven ability to follow recipe effectively
  • Follow set kitchen hygiene methods
  • Good standard of personal hygiene
  • An awareness of allergies within food preparation
  • A basic hygiene certificate, or willing to complete one prior to starting
  • A self starter – with guidance of the Café Manager, you will be leading the food preparation

We offer 23 days holiday a year; plus, bank holidays, two additional statutory days, St Piran’s day, should this fall on a working day and a Local Government Pension scheme. Holiday will be pro-rata based on your hours of work.
