Job Vacancy – Café Assistant

Truro City Council is looking to expand the café in the park team. Our café is open 7 days per week including most bank and public holidays and is based in Boscawen Park. It is a 35-seat café that opened in the summer.

We are excited to expand our team to be able to respond to our peak times. We are seeking an individual who is friendly, enthusiastic and has a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in a hospitality setting is desired but not essential as we can provide the training you need. What is important, is the ability to provide brilliant customer service and people skills to support our customers so that they enjoy their visit within the fast paced Café.

This position is on a Zero Hour Contract.  Whilst hours of work can’t be guaranteed we may be able to offer up to 28 hours per week as available. Mid-week and Weekend availability with flexibility required.

Salary: National Minimum Wage for anyone under 21 or £11.59 per hour for individuals who are 21 or over.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages
  • Wait on tables
  • Manage daily café preparations and general cleaning at the end of each day
  • To engage with customers in a professional and friendly manner
  • To process cash and card payments accordingly
  • To receive and store stock as required
  • Some cleaning duties are required at the end of each working day

We offer a Local Government Pension scheme. Holiday will be pro-rata based on your hours of work based initially on a full time equivalent of 33 days per annum.
