Job Vacancy – Café Assistant

Truro City Council is looking to expand the café in the park team. Our Café is open 7 days per week and is based in Boscawen Park. It is a 35-seat Café that opened in the summer of 2023.

We are excited to expand our team to be able to respond to our peak times. We are seeking an individual who are friendly, enthusiastic and have a ‘can do’ attitude. Experience in a hospitality setting is desired but not essential as we can provide the training you need. What is important, is the ability to provide brilliant customer service and people skills to support our customers to enjoy their visit within the fast paced Café.

This position is on a Part-time Zero Hour Contract – up to 28 hours per week

Salary: £11.59 per hour (NMW for anyone under 21)

In this role you will be required to:

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold food and beverages
  • Wait on tables
  • Manage daily café preparations and general cleaning at the end of each day
  • To engage with customers in a professional and friendly manner
  • To process cash and card payments accordingly
  • To receive and store stock as required
  • Some cleaning duties are required at the end of each working day

We offer 23 days holiday a year; plus, bank holidays, two additional statutory days, St Piran’s day, should this fall on a working day and a Local Government Pension scheme. Holiday will be pro-rata based on your hours of work.
