Denzil joins Truro City Council’s award winning stand at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show

Truro City Council and our parks department have come to the Royal Cornwall show with a show garden for the first time since the early 1990’s in order to promote and encourage more day visitors to Truro. The sign from those displays has been used on this year’s bandstand.

The bandstand and bedding displays on our stand, which is located in the Flower Tent, are based on the design of Victoria Gardens and include sustainable planting featuring Denzil, our famous roundabout Hedgehog. The sustainable styles of plantings we have used can also be seen in our other parks and gardens in Truro.

We are delighted that our garden has been awarded a Gold Medal by the judges who praised the sustainable planting and inclusion of Denzil.

We also have colouring activities sheets with other games for younger visitors to our stand to enjoy.

Information on free summer events in our parks, which include band concerts every Sunday from May to September and children’s events every weekday throughout August, will be available in our parks and on the City Council and Visit Truro’s websites.

Visit Cornwall staff are also on our stand where they will be highlighting the many attractions of Truro as a visitor destination. They will also be asking people for their views on their experience of visiting the city.  Participants will be entered into a draw for a Cornish food hamper or a hanging basket containing plants from our new Idless nursery. We look forward to seeing you in the flower tent on Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Come in and say hello and get a Denzil sticker!!
