Update on Green Street public toilets

26th February 2024

A shortage of some of the building materials needed for the completion of the scheme to refurbish the public toilets in Green Street means that the toilets are now due to re-open to the public at the end of April.

As well as refurbishing the existing toilets, the scheme, which is being delivered through a partnership between Truro City Council, Cornwall Council and Truro Town Deal Board, also includes the construction of a new fully accessible Changing Places toilet – the first public facility to be provided in the city centre, a new disabled parking space and a mural.

The project was originally due to be completed by the beginning of March but, whilst a significant amount of the work has been carried out, there has been a delay in some materials needed for the scheme arriving in the UK.  The toilets cannot re-open until all elements of the scheme, including the mural, have been completed as the hoarding needs to remain in place while the works take place.

The project team have been working extremely hard to secure the materials and are confident that the remaining works will be carried out and the toilets re-opened to the public by the end of April.

We are very grateful to the local community for their patience during this much needed refurbishment scheme and apologise for this delay in re opening the toilets.
