It’s coming back! Truro City Council gets ready to launch this year’s Great Little Kids Club summer activities programme

13 July 2023

Truro’s Great Little Kids Club is coming back for a second year with a fantastic range of activities taking place in Victoria Gardens Bandstand every weekday afternoon between Monday 31st July and Friday 25th August.

Organised by Truro City Council in partnership with Visit Truro, Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro Cathedral, and Hall for Cornwall, the programme will provide something for everyone to enjoy.

“I am delighted we have been able to bring back our Great Little Kids Club this summer” said Truro Mayor Councillor Carol Swain.  “Last year parents and carers told us how much their children had enjoyed taking part, with many saying it had really helped families during the long summer break.

“This year’s activities have been developed with the support of all our departments, as well as our partners, and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved”.

The programme will see the return of the Countryside Rangers team, stories & craft sessions with Truro Library, activities with the Royal Cornwall Museum, Jules the Ventriloquist &, new for 2023, the Hall for Cornwall team will be hosting dance workshops.

All the activities, which will run on a first-come first-serve basis, will take place between 2pm and 3 pm every weekday afternoon.

Also returning this summer are our free activity packs, featuring the popular Denzel the Hedgehog Town Trail, colouring in activities, word searches, and much, much more!

As local residents and regular visitors to Truro will know Denzel is one of our famous hedgehogs from Trafalgar Roundabout. He will be making his way into the city to hide in the displays of several city centre shops and some of our well known landmarks.

Children will be invited to search for the hedgehogs as they travel around the city . Each hedgehog will have a letter that when complete will spell a phase. They can then return to Truro Community Library or the Visitor Information Centre to enter into the prize draw.

Free stickers will be available for children to collect after completing each activity throughout the programme.

The packs, which will also contain information about events taking place at the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro Cathedral, the Community Library and other venues, will be available from Truro Community Library & Visit Truro Visitor Information Centre from Monday 24th July until Saturday 2nd September.
