Boscawen Tennis Pavilion

Work to begin on the exciting new tennis pavilion at Boscawen Park

Work will begin this week on the new tennis pavilion at Boscawen Park. The site has been set up and demolition works are now ready to begin.

The project will see the demolition of the existing tennis pavilion, with the construction of a new cafe, changing rooms, office, public toilets and a Changing Places toilet.

Richard Budge, Parks, Amenities and Facilities Manager for Truro City Council, said:

“We are thrilled that this project is now able to get underway and we look forward to welcoming the residents of Truro to use the new facilities once work is complete.

“It will be a great asset to the community and we are excited to see people enjoy and use this space.”

The redevelopment was granted planning permission in February 2020, and works are due to be completed by late summer, though this is subject to supplies, weather conditions, and any Covid-19 restrictions.
The existing cafe, Cafe in the Park, was temporarily relocated in July 2020, which means it can remain open throughout the duration of the work. It currently sits to the side of the tennis courts, next to the entrance to the park from the car park.

Following the completion of the new cafe, the existing unit will be removed. You can view the plans for the project via Cornwall Council’s online planning register using the reference number PA19/09069.
